All the practices that follow have been presented in
a similar way.
The first half of each practice begins with the name
of the picture and a brief description (Objectives).
This is followed by an illustration and a written description
of the practice (Organization), and notes about the most
important teaching and learning factors that will occur
(Teaching Points).
Next is a panel describing the abilities that are developed
by the practice (Abilities Developed) and the Key Considerations
(KC's Emphasized) that are highlighted and developed
by the practice.
Next is Additional Information. This section will give
a further insight into how the practice can be progressed,
simplified or modified for younger players and other
considerations.
Finally, there is a panel outlining the age considerations,
the suitability of the particular practice to the age
groups, as well as some brief comments about the applicability
of the practice to that age (Age, Suitability
and Comments).
The total practice section is split into three segments:
Specific Skills - practices or drills that highlight
one particular skill (e.g., side diving).
Combined Skill - practices that are relatively uncomplicated
but require decisions by the keeper as to the actions
and skills to be employed.
Game Decision Situations - practices that bring it together
with decision making, communication and the goalkeeping
performance affected by tactical considerations for team
play.
